ON THIS WEEK’S episode of Dinner SOS, food director and host Chris Morocco is joined by food editor Shilpa Uskokovic and editorial operations manager Kate Kassin to discuss their ideal Valentine’s Day plans. The question is—should you go out for a celebratory meal or should you stay in and cook something you know you love?
Chris shares that his ideal Valentine’s Day involves a cheese plate and a bitter, punchy salad (this Radicchio with Honey Honey Vinaigrette and Cotija gets extra points for being pink). Kate also has her sights set on cooking at home with a Classic Caesar Salad, a really good steak (with a pan sauce if she’s feeling fancy), and roasted Japanese sweet potatoes. For Shilpa, it’s all about the dessert—well, cake to be specific.
Chris, Shilpa, and Kate then game out how they want to spend Valentine’s Day. They put a bracket full of dining options—divided into Team Dining Out and Team Dining In—head to head to figure out how we should be eating on February 14. There’s dinner and a movie, a prix fixe menu at a buzzy restaurant, regular weeknight cooking, and even heart-shaped pizza.
Listen now to hear which option ranks above the rest and how Chris, Shilpa, and Kate plan to celebrate. And if you decide to stay in and cook, we have lots of Valentine’s Day recipes you’ll love on Bon Appétit and Epicurious.
