Prime Day isn’t a federal holiday yet, but Amazon sure is trying. Anyone can save at least a few bucks on items at Amazon and competing retailers through midnight on Wednesday July 17—no coupon required. But here’s the thing about those really big discounts: During Amazon’s big sales events, the very best deals are exclusive to Prime Members. If you aren’t one, you can still sign up for a free 30-day trial right now and take advantage of the trending deals as they happen (and we won’t even judge if you cancel before the trial is over). Just be sure you’re logged into your new Prime account by the time you get to checkout.
The other thing to be aware of on Prime Day? Lightning deals. Some of the best bargains during the Prime Day event are limited-time offers: Amazon offers a limited number of discounts over a short period of time. Lighting deals are one of those perks that are exclusive to Amazon Prime members. Again, we'll be monitoring the best lightning deals in the kitchen and home space, so check back here for constantly-updated kitchen and home coverage if you don't want to wade through the tech deals on Air Pods, Kindles, and Echo Dots (check out the coverage our friends' at Wired are doing if you are interested in those tech deals).
Countertop appliance deals
If you don’t have a lot of counter space and you want a chic, highly functional toaster oven, consider getting this one from Balmuda while it’s on sale for Prime Day. One person we know claims to have developed a serious emotional attachment to it after seeing how perfectly it handles every task from reheating leftover pizza to baking small batches of cookies and biscuits.Product: Balmuda The BrewBalmuda’s The Brew coffee maker makes perfect pour over-style coffee at the touch of a button, but that comes with a $700 price tag. On Prime Day, though, you can get BA Commerce Editor Carina Finn’s favorite coffee maker for $150 off. If you’re looking to splurge on a serious upgrade to your at-home coffee bar, make it this one.
We love the whole range of Vitamix blenders, but if we had to recommend just one, it would be the Vitamix 5200 blender. And today, it’s 27% off for Prime Members. While the interface may seem basic, we love that this blender is both simple to use and ultra high-powered, capable of taking on any task you give it—whizzing pesto, pulverizing nuts, crushing ice, or churning out the smoothest soups, smoothies, and purées imaginable. For a less expensive model that's a little less powerful, but also helpfully takes up less space and will likely tuck under your kitchen cabinets, opt for the Vitamix Explorian blender, which a few members of our staff and test kitchen have used for years and loved. Vitamix also lends their signature unparalleled power to an immersion blender.
KitchenAid stand mixers are a favorite in our test kitchen for a reason: They’re solidly constructed, easy to use, and if you take good care of them, they’ll last for decades. The Classic series 4.5-qt. model is big enough to tackle just about any baking project you throw at it—and it’s currently on sale for $80 off. If you’re tight on space and not planning on any massive batches of cookie dough in the near future, you can go for the KitchenAid Mini 3.5-qt. model, which is on sale for an impressive $130 off. And if you have a KitchenAid stand mixer already but are only pulling it out for the occasional baking project, there are a lot of other uses for this bad boy that you’re not taking advantage of. There is a wide variety of attachments available for KitchenAid stand mixers that convert the machine for other uses. A classic is the pasta roller, which is one of the best ways to roll homemade pasta according to our editors, but you can even convert your stand mixer into a food processor to help with meal prep or a shaved ice machine for all of your upcoming summer parties. These attachments and more are available right now for Prime Day.
Zwilling's Enfinigy line is a relative newcomer that is notable for its sleek and ultramodern look. The Enfinigy's powerful personal blender has a 500-watt motor, and its 20-oz. size is ideal for single-serving smoothies and juices. It’s small enough to fit in your kitchen cabinets, but chic enough to live on your counter. It also comes with a to-go lid so you can take your drink on the road. The toaster has extra long slots that can accommodate two pieces of sandwich bread in each slot as well as longer slices of sourdough. Then there’s the Enfinigy Cool Touch kettle, which was a former top pick in the product test over at Epicurious.
A Zojirushi is the Cadillac of rice cookers (luxurious, well-respected, but not the fastest), and one of its best models is currently on sale. Lest you think this is a bulky unitasker, this Zojirushi Rice Cooker can also double as a steamer, and it has a sleek brushed exterior that will look great sitting out on your kitchen counter. Or, snag its smaller 3-cup counterpart if you’re looking for something simpler that takes up less counter space.
Cuisinart is recognized for its food processors for a reason. This 7-cup model is beloved by our test kitchen. Mere vegetable chopper it is not—use it to make pesto, whip feta, and to break butter into flour for perfect biscuits. If space is a concern or you’re more often cooking in small batches, this 3.5-cup model from KitchenAid is the one for you. Commerce writer Tiffany Hopkins loves a mini food processor for weeknight meal prep tasks like emulsifying sauces, finely chopping a single onion, or whizzing up a quick salsa verde.
A few of our favorite toaster ovens are on sale right for Prime Day, so if you have yet to add one to your appliance arsenal consider this your sign. We love toaster ovens and countertop convection ovens for their supreme versatility: The best ones will turn out golden toast while also performing tasks like baking cookies and roasting chicken to perfection, saving you from turning on the big oven during the sweltering summer months. The Panasonic Toaster Oven FlashXpress may look like the VCR your grandparents had in their house (we think the look is kind of charming), but it’s actually one of our favorite models on the market. It has won in our testing over other toaster ovens year after year in this increasingly competitive space. Breville’s line of countertop toaster and convection ovens also consistently fare well in our testing, and you can shop a couple of them at a discount right now.
A few of our favorite air fryers are on sale right now, so if you somehow have yet to hop on the bandwagon or are looking to upgrade your current model, now’s the time. You probably don’t need us to tell you all the reasons why these countertop appliances are so great, but just know that there is simply no better or easier way to heat frozen French fries to supreme levels of crispiness, churn out beautifully blistered brussels sprouts, or bring leftover slices of pizza back to life. The XXL model from Philips was our top pick for multiple years, dethroned only recently by the Instant Vortex Slim—and both are on sale right now, along with a mini air fryer that also comes out on top in our testing.
We’ve been waxing poetic on the magic powers of the Instant Pot for years now, and Prime Day is right up there with Black Friday as one of the best times of the year to buy one if you so desire. These multi-cookers can do it all, combining the functions of a pressure cooker, steamer, rice cooker, slow cooker, sauté pot and more. If you dream of making, say, shreddy pork carnitas on a weeknight, this handy gadget makes that possible. A number of Instant Pot models are on sale, from the most basic Duo 7-in-1 to the Duo Crisp with Ultimate Lid, which combines all the functions of a typical Instant Pot with those of an air fryer. For more about the differences between Instant Pot models, head right this way.
Want to fulfill your childhood dream of making ice cream right from the comfort of your own home? Take advantage of this 13% off deal on the Ninja Creami and you can do just that.
This is the type of juicer that the pros recommend. In fact, it’s not just a juicer—it can make nut butter, pureé fruit, grind coffee beans, mince garlic, and so much more. And it’s more affordable this Prime Day at 35% off
Cookware deals
A Le Creuset Dutch oven is a Nancy Meyers fantasy kitchen staple for a reason: This enameled cast-iron Dutch oven is made to last forever. It heats evenly, gets super hot for perfect searing, and works in the oven and on the stovetop. Not to mention the fact that it stuns on the countertop or tabletop as well. The thing that sets Le Creuset apart from other Dutch ovens is, quite simply, the fact that the enamel never chips.
Enameled cast iron gets a lot of hype, but this pre-seasoned raw cast iron dutch over from Lodge is a great buy this Prime Day. If you have dreams of cooking over a campfire when temperatures start to drop, this will become your new favorite piece of cookware. Use it to bake biscuits and simmer stews over an open fire, or bake perfect sourdough with it in the great indoors.Product: Our Place Dream CookerIf you love the functionality of your Instant Pot but hate the way it looks on your kitchen counter, the Our Place Dream Cooker is about to be your new best friend. The 6-quart multi-cooker can pressure cook, slow cook, and sear, but without all the presents. Because the control panel doesn’t have a million buttons, you can tailor the cook time and style to meet your exact needs. And it’s so beautiful, you won’t want to hide it in a cabinet.Product: Our Place Enameled Cast Iron Always PanThe Always Pan is popular, but we think the enameled cast iron version deserves a little more love. It’s a stunning piece of non-toxic cookware that will last forever, and it can easily go from stovetop to oven to table. It also comes with matching silicone holders, a glass lid, and a matte black enamel cooking surface that’s great for searing meats.
All-Clad sets the industry standard for quality, long-lasting, stainless steel cookware. You will find these pans in abundance in professional kitchens around the country (and in this most recent season of The Bear), and they are no less appropriate for a home kitchen as well. If you like the idea of having one set of stainless steel cookware for the rest of your life, you will like All-Clad pans. They boast remarkably even heating across their cooking surface, they resist warping, and they are easy to maneuver around the range. Amazon Prime Day is a great time to grab this set of two frying pans at a discount.
You know Lodge for its affordable but reliable cast-iron Dutch ovens, griddles, and fry pans. As far as price-to-utility ratio goes, a pre-seasoned $40 Lodge skillet is one of the best kitchen deals out there. But a $28 Lodge cast-iron skillet? Even better. These make great housewarming gifts, too, so at this price, you might want to stock up.
While you’re at it, make sure to also grab one of Lodge’s hefty griddles for all your tortilla- and pancake-making needs.
Green Pan is a favorite brand among nonstick stans: Their skillets are durable, heat evenly, and are made of a ceramic nonstick coating that’s free of PFAS, PFOA, lead, and cadmium. This class frying pan is a great deal at just $34 and will see you through plenty of Sunday morning egg breakfasts and weekday veggie stir-fries. And while we don’t typically recommend full nonstick cookware sets (do you really need a nonstick stockpot?), we do understand the appeal if nonstick is what you’re most comfortable cooking with—and this 11-piece set is on sale for a whopping 43% ($150!) off.
There's a good chance you recognize this cult-favorite pan from your Instagram feed. The Always Pan is a PTFE-free ceramic nonstick pan that multitasks as a steamer. It's a versatile piece of kitchen equipment that's a great gift for people outfitting their kitchen for the first time, or for those lacking the space for a full 10-piece cookware set.
Coffee maker deals
If you're in the market for optimal coffee extraction every single time, you'll want the Moccamaster—our absolute favorite drip coffee maker. It'll brew quickly and keep your water heated at an ideal temperature range. And, this Prime Day, it's available for 33% off.
Though we recommend the Breville Bambino for espresso machine beginners, you really can't go wrong with any Breville espresso maker. Bring the local cafe straight to your kitchen with this Barista Express—which is currently 27% off.
Navigating the world of Nespresso machines—the various features, the involvement of other brands like Breville and De'Longhi and what it means, the settings available, etcetera—can be complex. Luckily, Nespresso enthusiast Emily Farris did the hard work for you: She wrote a buying guide that helps you find the right Nespresso machine for you. In general, our recommendation is this: If you truly want the best espresso in the game, and you want to master the art of pulling the perfect shot, you should opt for one of our recommended real deal espresso machines. But if you simply want good espresso—and quickly, without doing much work—the Nespresso technology can't really be beat in terms of ease to quality ratio. Opt for one of the Aeroccino models if you also want to be able to froth milk—or try the simple Inissia model first, and add one of the company's external milk frothers later.
You don’t have to own a Nespresso machine to get the Aeroccino milk frother. It’s a great add on if you want to play barista at home and add hot milk, hot foam, and even cold foam to coffee brewed any way—even something simple like French press or pour-over. If you have a Nespresso machine that doesn’t have frothing capability, this is, of course, a great opportunity to get an add-on that will allow you to make lattes at a sharp discount. For a cheaper, manual milk frothing option that gets the job done, we recommend this one from Ninja that’s 20% off right now. While it may look like a French press, it’s built specifically for frothing milk thanks to a smaller chamber and a plunger that goes all the way down.
The Café Specialty Drip Coffee Maker was a winner in our product test because it is simple enough for beginners, customizable enough for coffee buffs, has a sleek modern look, and makes a damn good cup of joe. If you find yourself buying coffee every morning because the stuff that comes out of your decades-old drip machine tastes like glorified bean water, we kindly suggest you treat yourself while this major upgrade is on sale for 35% off.
This is a top-notch single-serve coffee maker that doesn’t take pods (less waste), and instead it includes a nice burr grinder, so each cup will be brewed with completely fresh coffee beans.
Small Kitchen Tools and Gadgets
Last year—and every year before it—flour sack towels are some of our top selling Amazon Prime Day products. Already, our editors have taken advantage of Early Amazon Prime Day deals to restock their old and tattered collections. We suggest you do the same, because a good kitchen towel isn't just for cleaning—it's a powerful cooking tool. Use it in place of an oven mitt, to press water out of tofu, or to pat dry slices of salted zucchini.
If you cook meat, then a meat thermometer is an absolute must-have kitchen gadget. Lavatools makes one of BA staff’s favorite meat thermometers, the Javelin Digital Instant Read Thermometer. While this particular model isn’t on sale, you can get the brand’s faster, backlit PRO model for 14% off. There are also a number of meat thermometers from Thermopro available on sale, along with the top budget pick from Epi’s testing.
Cleaning tools
It takes a lot to describe a cleaning tool as “highly coveted,” but Dyson's cordless vacuums are highly coveted—because they work extremely well, but they're also super expensive. Take advantage of Prime Day deals to get one at a serious discount.
A mop-vac—which sucks up mess while simultaneously mopping your floor—can turn even the cleaning averse into neat freaks. The best of the best is Tineco, and you can get the brand’s S5 Pro 2 for $200 less than its usual price if you use Amazon’s included coupon.
iRobot is, of course, the main name in the robot vacuum game—their Roomba was the first of its kind. We find that their simpler, lower priced models hold up against competition from other brands. But, if you're looking for truly the best robot vacuum, with great Wi-Fi connectivity and mapping technology, we recommend going for the Roborock. It does an excellent job mapping your home, so it knows the right routes to vacuum—and this model has a docking station that sucks up the dirt from the vacuum. That's a key feature since robot vacuums have small dust chambers and have to be emptied frequently.
Simplehuman has been called the “Apple of Housewares,” and its products are priced as such. Associate commerce editor Megan Wahn recommends snagging this luxurious soap dispenser if you can find it on sale. Lucky for you, this Prime Day, it’s on sale for a modest 37% off.
Air purifiers aren't just for removing allergens, VOCs, and miscellaneous microbes from the air, they are also really helpful for removing unpleasant lingering smells and smoke in the kitchen after you cook. For anybody with a kitchen lacking in effective ventilation, a good way to prevent your living room from smelling like last night's chicken piccata is a decent air purifier
Outdoor cooking and entertaining deals
While early summer festivities like the 4th of July may be behind us, we’ve still got a whole season of patio parties, all-day barbecues, and beach picnics ahead of us. Prime Day is a great time to stock up on essentials that can make or break your outdoor cooking and entertaining experience, like tools that make for safer grilling and a cooler that will protect your snacks and bevs from the hot summer sun.
