Okay, full disclosure: I am not buying this for myself. That’s because I already own a slightly larger version of this machine that I absolutely love. But I am going to give it to someone as a gift. If you don’t know the deal with compressor ice cream makers, it is this: They are the ones that don’t require you to pre-freeze a bowl before you want to make ice cream. They use similar tech to what’s in your fridge and freezer to chill down the ice cream base in real time. That means you can make multiple batches, back-to-back, and you don’t need to plan ahead. I am, at times, a lousy planner, so the ability to drop my ice cream right in the machine is an invaluable plus. —Noah Kaufman
I haven’t owned a full-size blender since I was in college, and I think I’ve finally reached a breaking point with my dinky little 10-year-old bullet-style model. Vitamix is the biggest name in blenders for a reason, and I have my eyes on the brand’s Explorian model for its low profile and lower price tag than some of its other models (even lower now at over $100 off). I do still love a bullet blender for my morning smoothies, though, so I’m swapping my current model for the one that associate commerce director Emily Johnson raves about. —Alaina Chou
If I could have only one blender, it would be an immersion blender. They’re so versatile and convenient, and even some of the more affordable models do a great job of blending and puréeing. Still, I’m ready for an upgrade, so I’m thrilled to see this powerful Vitamix model on sale. I’ve already added it to my cart. —Emily Farris
While I already have a full-size food processor (inherited from my grandma and probably from the 1980s), it’s kind of a pain to take out and is often too big for the tasks my solo cooking endeavors require of it. This Prime Day I’ve got my eyes on a mini version that will be perfect for all my small batch pestos, nut butters, and summer gazpachos. Plus, it comes in a pistachio green that’ll match my set of KitchenAid mixing bowls (which, BTW, are also on sale). —A.C.
I have a subpar electric rental stove, so I’m always flirting with the idea of getting an induction burner and pretending I’m cooking for one of those hands-and-pans Buzzfeed videos of a bygone internet era. Plus, induction cooking is some of the most accurate, quickest, and environmentally sound you can do. This one won our product test and is 27% off. —E.J.
Is celery juice really a miracle potion like Goop says it is? Some mornings, I’m blissfully deluded into thinking that green juice will indeed cure all my health problems and, at this point, it’s enough mornings that I should probably invest in a juicer rather than buying a small bottle for over $5 a pop. I’ve ambitiously attempted to make juices with all sorts of fruits and vegetables with my trusty blender, but the additional step of having to strain out the pulp can make this a less attractive option. This is why I need the pro-recommended Omega Juicer—it has adjustable pressure settings for different fruits and veggies, and uses dual-stage masticating tech for optimal extraction. Plus, it’s 37% off, which means I’ll make up for my expensive juice store habits in less than two weeks. —Kate Kassin
In the midst of moving out of my last apartment, I made the impulsive decision to retire my trusty but well-worn rice cooker. The nonstick coating had conspicuously stopped doing its job and, as I began to wonder if I was lightly poisoning myself on a near-nightly basis, I decided it was time to put her to rest. Now’s my time to invest in a BA-beloved Zojirushi rice cooker—a slightly fancier machine than my last, befitting the slightly nicer kitchen in my new apartment. Zojirushi rice cookers produce consistently perfect, fluffy rice, with intuitive technology that takes a lot of guesswork out of the process. It's 29% off and I am all too excited to introduce this to my nightly meal prep routine. —Li Goldstein
Coffee essentials
It’s a long story I won’t get into, but my travel Nespresso machine (I guess that’s another long story I won’t get into) was involved in an accident and is no longer functional. It’s a bummer but it’s provided an opportunity to downsize my travel espresso setup. I know a lot of coffee nerds who love the Aeropress, so since it’s 30% off today, I’m going to give it a try. —Emily Farris
I need a new coffee maker and, for the last few months, have been teetering on the edge of splurging on an espresso machine, but I didn’t want to commit because of the cost. Prime Day sales do lessen the sticker shock though, and that 27% off isn’t looking too shabby. —Megan Wahn
While many folks in American cities gulp espresso drinks to jump-start their days, I have always preferred to slowly sip a cup of drip coffee. But preferring drip coffee over espresso does not mean that I am immune to the pitfalls of high-priced machines. While the best drip coffee maker is less of a splurge than an espresso machine, you’re still going to fork over a chunk of change. And when I talk about the best drip coffee maker, I’m talking, of course, about the Technivorm Moccamaster. I’ve had my eye on this machine for a long time, but it can feel hard to justify the price, even if it does brew the best cup—and even if I do drink coffee every day. Lucky for me, Amazon knew I was in the market and marked this down $119. —Carly Westerfield
Yes, we're all obsessed with that Big Dumb Cup, but what about Small Dumb Cups? I’ve coveted these mini Yeti cups ever since my coworker Carina first sipped from one on a Zoom call. I have a well-documented problem drinking coffee fast enough before it gets cold. I know, espresso is a very small quantity of liquid deliberately designed to be taken in a single gulp. I’m a sipper! I’m sorry! These combine my love of all things mini and insulated cups, and they’re 20% off now. —Emily Johnson
For all my work with the dozens of espresso machines I’ve tested (I’ve still got 4 residing in my basement) I don’t yet own a bottomless portafilter. If you don’t have one and aren’t familiar with them, they replace the spouted portafilters that come with your espresso machine. They’re good because they let you see how the extraction is going when you pull a shot. A good sign it’s going well is when the streams of coffee quickly converge into one. If you’re grabbing a new portafilter for your espresso maker, just make sure you get one that’s the right size. I need a 58mm, but most Breville machines, just as an example, will need a 54mm size. —N.K.
Kitchen necessities
I'm 32 years old and new to actually…owning an apron and taking the time to put it on before I cook. Turns out, it does great things in terms of preventing flour and egg and grease splattering on your clothing while you're baking a birthday cake. Who knew? Certainly not me. Beloved apron brand Hedley and Bennett has a sale going on right now, both on their site and on Amazon, so I'm going to treat myself to a second apron to celebrate this new stain-preventative lifestyle I've adopted. I won't personally be purchasing the psychedelic Grateful Dead apron that's currently on sale, but I think it goes hard and someone should. —E.J.
I don't know why it's taken me so long to get a salad spinner—everybody at work is obsessed with them and can't stop singing their praises. According to my coworkers, there's no better way to dry off tender herbs and lettuces than with the power of centripetal motion. Compared to scrunching leafy greens up with a dish cloth or paper towel (which is what I typically do), using a salad spinner keeps everything perky and sog-free. Hooray for salad that's not wet! —Wilder Davies
I refresh my kitchen towels every year on Amazon Prime Day. The burned, stained, and torn flour sack towels get relegated to bathroom cleaning and in comes a fresh new set for the kitchen. These utilitarian guys can be used for drying your hands, yes, but they’re also a powerful kitchen tool. Use them to dry herbs, to grab hot pans, and to shape and cover dough. And that’s not all. They’re essentially washable cheese cloths: wrap tofu, shredded zucchini, or beets in these things and squeeze all of the moisture out for maximum crisp. P.S., I think we figured out why my old set is stained. —E.J.
Is everyone aware that a not-on-sale, high-quality kitchen trash can will run you $100 to $200? I, for one, didn’t know this until a couple of weeks ago, when I decided it was time to upgrade from the cheap plastic can I’ve owned for half a decade. I really want something that is well-built, odor-containing, and nice-looking. People on the internet (including my coworkers) say this shiny stainless-steel Simplehuman trash can is where it’s at. The 50-liter version has been sitting in my cart for days thanks to my reluctance to spend so much money on something that holds trash, but having this baby in my kitchen would be a dream—and there’s no better time than Prime Day to finally take the plunge (and score it at a discount). —Tiffany Hopkins
This, on the other hand, is something I’m going to get for myself. Like a lot of you, I use the recipes on bonappetit.com for dinner a lot. I don’t own a tablet and it’s been a minor nightmare to read recipes on my phone or leave my laptop on the counter while I work. Smart home devices don’t really work for what I need because navigating to a specific website, which I absolutely need to do, is either very hard or actually impossible. But this reasonably sized tablet will serve nicely as my digital cookbook. —N.K.
I already have this Courant multi-device charging stand in my home office, but I’m buying a second for my kitchen while it’s on sale. It works great as a phone-holder so I can follow along with my favorite BA recipes while I’m cooking, and it can charge two MagSafe devices at once. It’s also chic and space-efficient—two nonnegotiables for anything that goes into my kitchen. —Carina Finn
My kitchen doesn’t have the best air circulation, so smells tend to linger long after I’ve done the dishes and cleared the table. As much as I love my house to smell like food, sometimes it can be a bit much. After more fragrant meals I like to move my air purifier into the kitchen to freshen things up faster, but now that this purifier is on sale for Prime Day I’ve decided to spring for a full-time kitchen air purifier. That way I don’t have to lug my other one from room to room. The Levoit purifier is small but powerful, capable of filtering over 1000 square feet of space. —W.D.
Quality cookware
I love my Staub plancha for making multiple mochi pancakes at the same time, but since moving into an apartment and leaving behind my fancy Italian induction range, I no longer have a bridge burner to use it with. Because I’m doing most of my cooking on the Breville Control Freak Home portable induction cooktop these days, I need something a little smaller. But I also want more surface area than a round enameled cast iron pan can provide. I’ve been waiting for Le Creuset’s square griddle pan—which is roomy enough for two pancakes—to go on sale and now that it’s 15% off, it’s already in my cart. —E.F.
Everyone knows All-Clad makes some of the best stainless steel cookware, a fact plenty of our editors will attest to. I like to keep my cookware collection relatively lean, but All-Clad's prestige has had me ruminating if I should add one or two pieces—namely this two-piece set of pans that's currently 22% off. —M.W.
Outdoor essentials
This summer I made a big change to my outdoor cooking routine: I got the Wi-Fi-enabled Konnected Joe from Kamado Joe, which means I no longer have to post up in a lawn chair next to my grill when I want to cook something low and slow on a Sunday afternoon. To celebrate this major life upgrade, I’m buying one of Yellow Leaf’s handwoven hammocks. They are UV-safe, expand to the same width as a queen-size bed, and are made from soft, weatherproof yarn. I’ll be spending the rest of summer lounging here while I monitor my Campo Grande pork shoulders and rib racks from an app on my phone. —C.F.
For the beverage obsessed
If I were to identify as anything, it would be as a “beverage goblin.” The only way to maintain my body's equilibrium is to constantly be sipping on something bubbly, something caffeinated, or something boozy (or all three, in three separate cups). The habit has gotten out of hand. It is difficult to close the crisper drawers in my fridge because they are overflowing with seltzer, ginger beer, hard cider, and the occasional canned rosé. A separate beverage cooler would solve all my problems, but it's the kind of appliance that has always seemed too luxurious to justify—the kind of unattainable status symbol reserved for Kardashian-level wealth. That was the case until I came across this well-priced model from Antarctic Star. It has a modest footprint and can easily house my bevy of bevvies, with the added benefit of freeing up the crisper drawer for its intended purpose. And at 26% off, who am I to refuse such a deal? —Megan Paetzhold
For years I’ve made do with freezer ice trays. But the fact is, ice cube trays are flawed. They spill, causing icebergs to form on the bottom of my freezer; they take up valuable real estate (I honestly would love it if all of my cabinets were freezers); and my partner never remembers to refill them. Next time he asks for an after-work drink, instead of glaring at him passive-aggressively, I’d love to amble over to our countertop ice maker, scoop, shake, and relax into the evening. The thing is, the good ones are eyebrow-raisingly expensive. I’m going to need a deep Prime Day discount to justify the purchase. —Joe Sevier
In my dream world, I own our top tested G.E. Opal ice maker and enjoy crunching on an endless supply of nugget ice on the daily. But this is not my dream world, and instead I plan to make do with this ice tray that releases cubes into a drawer compartment that, if I close my eyes, will let me pretend I’m scooping ice from a fancy machine. —A.C.
I’m fully on board the prebiotic soda train at this point, and Poppi is my personal favorite brand in the space. I consider having a fridge stocked with fun bevs the peak of luxury, so I’m taking advantage of this 33% off deal to afford myself a taste of the highlife. This variety pack includes my favorite flavor (Doc Pop) and my roommate’s (Grape) along with some other classics like Cherry Cola and Orange Cream.
